  1. there's no such thing as in beginner coral or hardy coral or easy to keep coral, ALL LIVE STOCKS need good water quality, environment and proper lighting to survive in a closed system. if you can give the "BEST" to them (LS), you can keep anything.
  2. 3 weeks of normal water cycling is not enough, btw, corals are more sensitive than fishes and you should not change water during cycling period.
  3. I'm using Sander ozoniser oso, got it from Ee-lake (the agent), maybe they can tell u where to get 1.
  4. classic XL is a taller version but I dun think importer has it. as for skimmate, is super thick if adjust correctly. my other aquamedic tuborflotor produce same type of skimmate, so to save some $, RSB oso can lah..
  5. whta was, no intention to buy fishes, but this blenny caught my eye, it got beautiful colour and cute, just buy on impulse. anyway, lesson learned. sigh... cute turn out to be ugly... well now its inside the refugium.
  6. Hi Acanthurus, I'm using 1 for about 4 yrs now, good skimmate with min 2500L/h power head, manageable at 2000L/h. only thing is, after few months, you need to flush out the sediment below.
  7. Hi Guys, Did something stupid, introduced a Leopard Blenny last week in my tank. Guess what after 3 days, this damn fellow churn up 1 full piece of my Monti, few Acros and some Millepora. I have checked my reference book, to my horror, those sps are favourite food to Leopard Blenny, it will glaze with sharp spiky teeth. Sigh......
  8. DA.. sure u 1 2 change 2 400wMH, 4 a 1.5ft deep tank, 400wMH will cook up all yr LS. esp coral will melt down
  9. take a little more effort n $, release it at Sisters Island, water there is clean n good reef structure. once its back to the open sea, everything is natural again, fishes can strive even better. few years back, I've released a 8" big 6-banded Angel and some clown fishes at Pulau Hantu. it was quite a sight when they swam towards the reef.
  10. for budget wise, do u 1 a used PS, Brand is AquaMedic n 2+ yrs already, excellent cond. its belong to my friend, pm me if interested. New abt 700+, i think my friend may 1 to let go below half without pump.
  11. hydrogen sulfide is definitely harmful if too much, reason being- dead water (still), its stink if it serious. remedy:- usually with DSB, u need worm, brittle star, snails, etc to work on n inside the sandbed, to give breathing space. alternatively, b4 start yr DSB, try using many straws with lot of holes n put them sticking out of the sandbed, overtime u will see bubbles coming out from the straws.
  12. Hi Chris, Hope u dun be mad abt my comment. Can see u put in lot of effort n $ in this hobby, but by looking at yr equipment n the rate of yr bio-loading n the nos. of fishes in a 4x2x2, its a time bomb in creation. No doubt is already 6 mths, most crushes happen ard 9 to 12 mths. Lots of effort needed to control the parameter n nitrate level. my 2 cent worth. happy reefing.
  13. I'm using a 5 stages RO unit, buying locally is hell of X. Consilidate order of 4 or 5, maybe can get ard +- S$750, not sure now. Need further price checking.
  14. hi guys, so far tank is ok, i've rusty, coral beauty, bi-color, flame angel juv. emperor, majestic, blue ring angel, 2 regal tang, PT, BT, YT, PBT, sailfinT, numerous damsel, clown, cardinal, puffer, wrasse size does matter, introduce new tankmate takes time and effort. still remember when my 3" juv. emperor 1st went in, most of fishes went hiding for few minutes. anyway, never introduce very aggressive fish 1st, must plan your species in advance.
  15. Hi Bawater, THANKS 4 yr great info. Shall check n buy from either 1. By the way, I get 75% discount for FedEx. Certain thing cannot wait (impatient), I think everyone also wait 4 aquarama, so maybe no chance.
  16. Hi Bawater, Since you are the pro in this culturing stuff, can you recommend me the company to buy the fertiliser n eggs. I can get things in with my FedEx account, super low price. I'll best from 1 source(supplier), easy to manage. Hey... thanks bro..
  17. currently experimenting Xenon light. 2 nos. 100W @ 9000K temp. yet to check lumen. set-back, lighting gears are more X than MH.
  18. hey.. sounds familiar. have tt experience b4, fishes sucked into the powerhead n worst 1, an anemone. the whole tank was gone, cry no tear... now i had all powerheads concealed inside separated compartment, so far so good. are the coral gone too???
  19. hi guys, I'm using RO 4 abt 10 years??? I think... Anyway, RO water is 99.99% pure. You can drink RO water directly from the tap, use it for car battery water. As for the number of gallon, the filter rate can produce a day. I'm using a 60 gallon per day, 5 stage RO, one of the top range with TDS monitor. If you guys are interested, we can bulk purchase from my source, price is at least 25 - 30% cheaper. As a guide, RO filter doesn't come cheap, easily ard $600+ depending on the number of stages.
  20. pls check, are there clumps at the edge of the fins? if so, is finrot. if not, clean cut fins means aggression. anyway, if is finrot, try changing 25% water. remove fishes to hospital tank, or remove LR & others sensitive to medication. for finrot, light dose of copper treatment n medalene blue (i think wrong spelling), u can try taking out fish n cut the fin off (rotting part only) with very sharp scissors, then drip with iodine solution. make sure after few water changes, months later then can put in LR, invert, corals, etc. if u r only keeping fishes, invest a UV steriliser.
  21. Hi guys n gals, This might help newbies to consider going into this hobby. Average out the number of hours per week basis hobbists spend on enjoying, maintaining, researching, diy-ing, shppg for LS or equipment, or anything u do to your tank. Once into this unbearable temptation n exciting, challenging hobby, we somehow neglect alot of other things around us. Anyway, as for me, averagely abt 3 - 4 hours daily. So let see who can be the most fanatic chap in this forum . what do u think...... everyone here pls post yr slavery hours.. HAPPY REEFING......
  22. you may choose to use Octopus 3000 controller for yr reef tank needs, dusk to dawn lighting, wavemaker, temp, ph, dkh, water top-up, salinity, etc. cost: approx. us$800.00
