You mentioned led is 10w 1.05a, v should be 10/1.05 = 9.52. Since you have 5 led, total current should be 5*1.05=5.05a. If you multiply 5.05 * 9.52 you will get 50w. Therefore you should get a 50 watt 9.52volt 5.05 amp supply not 12v 5a. .

wow 16x10w you must have a very big tank, 5x10w i feel bit too bright for my 3 ft tank already :D

my tank's 4ft x 4ft x 2ft so the area covered is pretty large. :thumbsup:

About the 12v5a PSU u were using, u could attach a low rpm fan to it if it's the metal casing type to help dissipate the heat. I'll probably post a photo when i get home later.

Bringing this thread up again.

Any updates gp2700?

I'm embarking on a DIY 10W LED as well.

After reading the posts here, I think the PSU used is insufficient. You should use the 10A PSU instead.
