SRC Member Qun77 Posted February 6, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted February 6, 2013 Hello, Wanna heard how do you do the top ups? If u top up or change 10% of water daily, do you still mix sea salt for each top up? Even if it is not a lot of new water? Or do u simply just add water as long as the sanlity is in the correct range. Cheers
moscowites
hi bro. A lot of people have the misconception that changing water and topping up of water is the same thing. It's different. topping up of water is done with normal RO/Di water. When you do your water change, you use water with salt mix. hope that answers your question. SRC Member Qun77 Posted February 7, 2013 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 7, 2013 Thanks mate. Isn't topping up the water with ro\Di water dilute the tank too? Cheers
Clement_jr
u won't dilute the salinity. but those trace elements like mg, kh etc. so that when those part A, B comes in. cutedragon
Water change & water top up is different Top up water is for the water loss due evaporation Water change is for lowering the ammonia or unwanted waste from ur tank
SRC Member tropic Posted February 7, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted February 7, 2013 What evaporates is the water..not the salt. Hence you top back up the water. Sent from my Android using Tapatalk2

SRC Member liquidnoise Posted February 14, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2013 Just to share. We are using a fan hence water dries pretty fast. My mum just top water. I told her to test first as over time topping up will dillute the water. So if its too diluted I ask her to add a little (not alot) bcoz if its too much it will be too concentrated when the water evaporates again
SRC Member jxlex Posted February 14, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2013 I think if u do a weekly or bi weekly water change no need to worry about dilution from daily top-up... Again that will not be a case for 1/2 yearly water change la! Hahaha Quote :: just a noob ::
