Dry for 3 days dont mean the pests will die. Quarantine them in pail with air pump on will force the pests to come out unwillingly Coral don't invite earthworms etc rather than smaller pests

Do note the companions should not be aggressive rather friendly species

Water change & water top up is different Top up water is for the water loss due evaporation Water change is for lowering the ammonia or unwanted waste from ur tank

You might wan to look for tank makers to check or jalan kayu there already ready made cabinets They do sell cheaper there
