Copepods

Hi, not sure if this is a stupid question, but here goes.

Does copepods "free-swim" or do they only crawl around?

If free-swimming, won't copepods be trapped in the wool filter when the water is filtered through it?

Thus when we change wool filter, we will be throwing away these good pods.

They do both I believe. On tank walls and also inside chaeto etc. They get blown around thus if it gets into ur overflow it will get trap in your sock or wool. Used to have them plenty whenver I wash my socks.

If they are breeding on your wool, they should be breeding even more elsewhere. It might be that youll kill them from washing but rmb that they breed exponentially
