Advise for planning for a new tank at new home

Hi everyone,

I am currently with my 3ft tank bought as 2nd hand. No experience with any tank makers and need some advise.

Planning for a 5ft x 3 ft x 2ft (ht) tank with 3 viewing sides (2 length are viewable) at my new house in 2015 Jan.

For tank makers:

- Can I purchase my own equipment like skimmer, pumps? If I get from tank maker, they will surely jack up the equipment price.

- Do they do rock scaping too? I have a design in mind.

- Which tank maker is more recommended for reef tank?

- Budget just for tank and cabinet and sump is about $3k. Not sure if crystal glass will burst the budget or not.

Get a few quotes n compared..there r a few sponsors here in SRC..for equipments, u can scout urself or ask the tank maker..they will advise u accordingly..u can post question here n friendly reefers here will advise but do note that all tank r different..3k for tank n equipments r a bit low on budget..cheers

I try my best to ans some of your question. U are free to buy your own equipments. Some tank maker will provide scaping for u but u have to purchase live rocks from them. If u purchase your own rocks, they may charge u labour for scaping. Dont have to think of crystal glass, 5 3 2 with normal glass already burst your budget of 3k.
