Crumb up Biopellet

Hi bro,

Do you have this experience ?

Recently I found my biopellet will crumbled up as a big lump in my FR.

Do you have this experience?

What is the cause and what can be done to eliminate this.

6.5 * 2 * 2 + 3.75 * 1.5 *1.5,(Decomn on 14/9/08)
4*2*2 + 2.5*1.25*1.25 (Decomn on 1/8/09)
5*2*2 (Fully LED light system, 140 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm)
2.5*2*2(Fully LED Light System,96 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm)

5*2.5*2(LED only)

Eheim return 1 * pump

1 HP Daikin compressor with cooling coil
2 Jebao OW40, 1 ecotech MP40,
1X6085 Tunze wm,

1 CURVE 7 Skimmer

  1 DIY 80 led control by Bluefish mini 

1 radion XR30W G2, 2 Radion XR15G3

Sump area lite by 5 ft T5 , 6 * SSC 3 watt red LED for refugium

1 Full spectrum E27 led light

1 CR control by bubble count

Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016

Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft

Same here... Anyone mind to share how to resolve it? I'm using bubble magus pump 1000l/hr...

Display Tank: 3x2x2 feet (12mm Crystal Glass)

Sump Tank: 2.5 feet with 4 compartments

Hi bros. I also used to have this problem. What I did was drain of whatever liquid/water there is then start run again. It should float like what it is intended to. But once u notice that it clumps up must try to straight away deal with it. Thats my 2 cents worth, hope it helps

Ya, I am using FR45. Top spongeremove for stronger flow.

JNS is it the same design as the FR45? I think TLF has another bigger model

Will the bigger model have the same problem

Those JNS reactors that have built-in circulation pump don't have the crumble up issue.

FR45 seems to have some "blind spot" above the black colour nozzle where the crumb will start to form and expand.

I tried it but seems it still crumb up in the end. Does increase the power of the water pump help? Thinking to upgrade to 1,700l/hr.

Bro, try to increase the flow. Usually crumbing of biopellet is due to dead spot or low flow as bacteria built up.

Ok. Maybe this weekend buy the 1,700l/hour and see whether its help. Thanks bro!

Sometime too high flow might not help..the flow best to be just nice to tumble the pellet..my FR is t-joint from jebao dc6000 n the flow is throttle by a valve which I on ard half..cheers n happy reefing
