Correct me if I'm wrong, but red light does not penetrate deep into the ocean. Its the first colour to be lost. The creatures from the deep which are accustomed to darkness too. The red light Is less able to be perceived by them because they are not adapted to do so. So I think its so people can see the creatures but they won't be disturbed that much.

Being mostly scavengers, the inverts are peaceful among themselves. The color of lighting doesn't seem to affect their behavior. I occasionally switch between white+blue, red & orange, keeping it as dim as I can comfortably view them.
