I have been reading about feeding corals and people say that feed them when they are hungry.

I have a few candycane corals, and I don't see them behaving any different. How do they look when they are hungry?

When lights are out, they may have short tentacles sticking out - a sign they are looking for food.

BTW, my candy canes will always take in food when i feed them (even if they are fed daily without the tentacles sticking out).

Oh then what should I feed.. I heard brine shrimps or chopped up mysis will do ... But I can't tell if they are eating :look:

How long do I have to wait before I turn on the pumps again?

They seem to eat anything - hikari mysis shrimp, bits of market prawn, bait fish (small white fish about 1/2cm to 1cm found at ntuc or market) , sushi roe

Once they get a good grip of the food, it's ok to turn the pump back on. About 10min is sufficient. In my case, I'm using the Apex Neptune & my pumps restart after 15 min.

Target feed them.. U can see their tentacles pulling the shrimps to their mouth. I feed mine w frozen Mysis and rotifers.. Once they are done eating (which u can see) you can switch on the pumps..

Here's a vid on YouTube showing corals feeding:
