Frozen food - thaw or straight dump in?

I don't think it is advisable as it may contaminate your water that give rise to algae bloom.

But since it is self blended, might not be possible to put it under running water to thaw it.

I usually does that for my mysis food.

One cube of mysis in strainer under water, this reduces introducing nitrates and phosphate in

your water.

I think if you have a good system, of reducing nitrates and phosphate, then chances of algae bloom

is lesser but I would not take the risk as my tank has all this corals in it.

I use my aquarium water to thaw the frozen mysis. Then I use those plastic tweezers to pick up the thawed mysis to feed the fish.

I will normally thaw it in a container, once thawed, will rinse with freshwater before feeding to prevent high nutrient into the tank.

Up coming project:

5' x 2.5' x 2.5' Mix Reef Tank
