ich problem

The situation is likely as follows :

- The ich parasites survives & remain in the water

- Feeding garlic soaked food helps. The ich falls off the fish temporarily due to the garlic eaten

- As the parasite is still in the water, they attach to the host (fish) again

I had the same issue as yours when my Tang was 1st introduced (other fishes were OK).

Just be persistent with the garlic for at least 2 weeks.

Other things i did was to lower salinity to about 1.024. I also added a UV filter in an attempt to reduce the number of parasites in the water column.

You will need to remove all the fishes in your tank. When ich dont have a host they can't survive. Need to leave the tank fish-less till the ich cycle complete

Usually ich comes back again at nights and next morning, fish will be cleared. The cycle repeats again but if your fishes are still eating as per normal, just leave them and they will heal by themselves. My fish took 2 weeks to heal... Meantime, I have used UV and feed medicated food to them..

Powdertang shd b a sis if i rem correctly..

Anyway, like what powdertang say, if ur fishes r feeding well, not to worry that much..lower SG will slow down/kill ich parasites but do note that SG lowering must b done slowly n no invert..regular wc will help to reduce/flush away ich parasites like in the sea with constant current n waves..continued to feed ur fishes with good food n regularly wc..good luck bro :)

Uv light usually for reef tank we don't use it. Hear say hear say it also kill beneficial bacterials. I have never use one before so can't really comment much.

I'm usually leave the fish alone as long as they are eating. Try to feed your tang seaweed more as it will naturally help boost up their immune system. I consider myself lucky to have my clown fish chromis wrasse and convict all snatching on seaweed haha which keeps them healthy

All the best to your fish fighting the ich. Try avoid doing drastic lowering of salinity as that is also a form of stress to the fishes

Ok. Noted. Oh my is not reef. Onli fowlr. Easier to maintain.
