SRC Member PowderTang Posted April 9, 2015 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 9, 2015 Nitrate 5ppm ( has always been like this since day 1) Salinity 1.024 I recently used ozone, so will it defect the sps ? They only recently become like this
Land2013
Check for nutrient and light requirement.
Admiraltian
Light, flow, water parameters? Dose any new additives lately? If ur sps color get paler, it could be a sign of bleaching. cedricang
Hi I see some of my simple sps dying like digi and monti turn paler What is the reason ? Parameters: Mg 1470 ( is it high ?) Potassium 390 Kh 8.3 PH 8 Please help Thanks Hi Bro, your Mg at this level is still tolerable by most corals so it may not be the issue. Reading from your other replies, your water parameters seem ok to me. It seems to be that you are using LED light set, and violet could be your UV led ? If so then you have to recall when does the bleaching occurred, does it happen when you set it to 100% ? If answer is yes then obviously your sps is stressed by the level of UV ( violet ) setting too high. You need to immediately lower it down to prevent further stress to your sps. Remember, any changes must be done gradually to avoid shock to your tank animals. Hope that helps. Cheers ! Quote Treat others the way you wanna be treated... But I did not touch the uv setting so I leave it unchanged. Now I have removed the violet and the rest ramp down, so will observe for another week
SRC Supporter ReDDeviLs Posted April 14, 2015 SRC Supporter Share Posted April 14, 2015 if you notice the drop in color after ozone then its too much light par that bleach your digi and monti. hydra52 have strong intensity and generally digi/monti are not so light demanding. ozone improve clarity to the water therefore the intensity of the light can penetrate better resulting in your corals bleaching or shock to light. what you can do, 1) move your corals lower. 2) reduce your photo period. 3) reduce your lighting intensity. ( this can be done using acclimatization mode for AI light set) Quote [ ] [ ] Reef Reefing Reefed
