Manage to get a tank from my buddy reefer ... so decided to keep zoas and lps... 2 x 2 x 1 ft .. external overflow with a sump tank.. going for simple setup.. using par 38 and fan to cool the temperature.. not using skimmer as not going to keep fishes..

What's the filtration used in this tank? Internal or external overflow, sump design etc?

Skimmer : Skimz Octa SC205i Protein Skimmer.

CR : Skimz Monzter E Series CM122 Calcium Reactor.

No skimmer.. basically using bacteria kings and marine pure.. other then that change water only.. as not using chiller ..so don't want those extra heat..

Nice bro..the 2 tanks cabinets colour matched well..ur main tank does a lot difference from the time I saw it..swee man :) ..din know u got so many corals to transfer over man..haha

I do saw tank that have just one to two fishes but they are still running a skimmer.

There are reefers which have more fishes but no skimmer too..depend on setup yea..usually skimmer is to remove nutrient which is mostly poo from fishes..so i think no fish no skimmer shd b fine yea..bro Klyve will do the experiment n update us here :)

Same colour  = same source... my buddy decided to call it a day so I took over the shallow tank as well.. not alot of corals la.. just a very tiny collection

1st not using skimmer as I wanted to keep it as simple as possible and reduce the powerhead.. which also means less heat generated . As using a fan to keep it cool only, and not intending to put chiller . So just have 1 return pump  and a wavemaker. Also using par 38 instead of T5 so less heat. As can see in the sump tank, I just hook up a nitrates reactor and using bacteria media , so hopefully will do the job. 

Also not going to keep sps and keeping mainly zoas .. so they are more tolerance of dirty water as well ..
