H & S skimmer

WOuld like to ask fellow H & S skimmer users ( like AT ) :

The skimmer was skimming very well until i change the wools and added some LR in the sump .... then the skimmer juz wouldn't froth to the top ....

any explanations for this ?

Normally it takes less than an hour to see the brown/ black thingy forthing to the bream before being pushed out ....

now , i dun even see the frothing part ... let alone the brown/balck stuff !!

tried cleaning the pump and tube but nothing seems to help ....

Sometimes putting your hand in the water or even feeding the tank will stop frothing. It's normal. Something to do with changing the chemistry of the water temporarily.

Happens to all skimmers.

DO NOT overclean your skimmer coz you will be in effect causing another break-in period.

A biofilm will take about a few hours to a day to form over the micro-cracks on the walls, so water and foam will find it easier to 'slide' over.

Dun panic!
