My Humble 5G Nano Tank

Hi,

Sharing my nano tank that was setup in Dec'03. All comments/view are welcome.

AGE OF TANK: 5 Months Old

SIZE OF TANK: 23” x 8” x 8.5” (without sump) SAND: 5kg Grade 0

LIVE ROCK: 3kg – Fiji Type from CF; 2kg – Normal

LIGHTING: 1 x 55W PL, 2 x 5W FL (ZooMed 10K , Actnic 420)

PHOTOPERIOD: 3pm – 11pm

WATER MOVEMENT: 1 x Eden 106 P/H (300L/H)

FILTRATION SYSTEMS: 1 x HOB rated 200 L/H, 1 x HOB rated 1000 L/H (acts a small refugium as well)

COOLING METHODS: 1 x Ice Probe

WATER TOP UP SYSTEM/TOP UP RATE: Manual, 1 cup a day

WATER PARAMETERS: SG=1.020-1.022, NH3/NH4=0, NO2=0mm/l, NO3=20mg/l, Temp=27oC - 29 oC, PH=8.0

LIVESTOCK LIST:

Fish: 1 x Clarkii, 1 x 4-Stripe Damsel, 1xYellow-Tail Damsel, 1 x Spotted Watchman Goby

Invertebrates: 1 x Fire Shrimp, 2 x Skunk Shrimp, 1 x Turbo Snail, 1 x Brown Feather Duster,

1 x White Feather Duster

Corals: 1 x Green Fluorescent Mushroom Coral (Actinodiscus sp.)

1 x Red Mushroom Coral (Actinodiscus sp.)

1 x Finger Leather Coral (Clidella sp.)

3 x Button Coral – Orange, Green and Brown (Zoanthus sp.)

1 x Mix Button and Mushroom Coral

I think its more than 5 gallons (18.5 l). No way can a 5 gallon tank support so much livestock.

Just do not overfeed, do regular water change. Most important, resist temptations to buy implusively...

Due to the recent hotspell, the xenia is not doing very well and it's dying.......

Errr...it's definitely not a 5 gallon...

My 10 gallon tank is only 20inches long...

But anyway, good job!

Based in the dimension of the tank size u given 23inchx8inchx8.5inch will give u 25.63L=6.77US gallon=5.64UK gallon. U may wanna reconfirm the dimension coz the height and width sure look more than 8inch and 8.5inch respectively.

if the light is a 2 feet 1 than its a 10g, coz i have a tank that looks like that 1 too
