FW rock

Hello to all,

Can FW rocks be use to cycle a new marine tank?

A friend of mine want to give me some.

Need advise before I collect from him.

A very big no no...even if the rocks are suitable (what material are they?), FW life forms will all die in the saltwater, thus contributing to more ammonia build-up.

Anyway, most rocks used for FW tanks are not suitable for marine set-ups.

Actually I did come across a thread stating that FW rock can be use for marine tank only it take longer for the rock to be active or maybe just as a decor but I can't really remember cause I can't find the thread.

Anyway I will take your advice as it only a few kgs and it will not take much of my budget.
