reddish purplish markings.

I noticed there are some reddish purplish markings on the sides of my tank, especially near the substrate. Are they coralline algae or are they some form of nuisance? If they are coralline algae, why are they not on my rocks instead?

it should be coraline algale.. coralline algale grows everywhere..u will be surprised to see it growing in my skimmer.around my powerhead, back of my glass front everywhere.. if u want to double confirm, show us a pic..helps..but i think is coraline algale..good.

Bro, you can't tell coralline algae or any algae that matters where to grow ..........or can you?

hee hee show us a pic ,.... the fact that they are growing show that ur water and light are gd ...dun worry , they will slowly slowly spread to the rock one so just wait ya ....

your right side tank wall looks like got a lot od green algale..scrub it off..and check your P04 ..

maybe u can tell us ur po4 and no3 level ....

as for mi , i think cyano will always accompany with bubble one ... and they like to be on the sand ...

ya coralline algae are hard , they need calcium hee

its not on the sand but its on the glass and there is no bubble. As for my Nitrate, I think its around 3.

Coralline are hard, cyano is slimy, just touch it.

IMO is cyano.

welcome bro.. most likely its cynao bacterial growth.. check your P04, dont end up like me..as it will spread very quick and soon your sand will be affected...Learn from me..If your P04 is way high..get P04 elimination eg: ROWAphos , COntraPhos.ETC... dont wait till..Itr blooms...
