You can buy Carib-sea aragonite sand from sealife.

ed, i dun wan coral chips cos might contain impurities like silicates,etc etc

tanzy, will argonite be too fine to use as the media? cos i know if its too fine it will cloud the tank.

Get big aragonite sand. The sugar fine ones will just clog up the system. I use Caribsea ARM for my ca reactor.

Dunno how much it cost in Sealife. I get my ARM from US.

spiff..you can try aquamart..they sell calcium media for their calcium reactors...think $8/kg

Get crushed coral chips #15 at $8 /kg. That's what I use after Aquamedic. Try to screen the chips before you put it in the reactor. Remove darkened, discolored chips and non-coral objects that goes along with it.

IT's cheap and I find it better than pure calc carbonate in maintaining KH. Aquamedic calc carbonate seems to stop dissolving after a few months.
