zooxanthallae provide their hosts wif oxygen and some organic compounds they produce thru photosynthesis. when stressed, many corals hv been observed to expel their zooxanthallae. often, the corals will bleach but IME, does not necessarlily means it will die.

some of my previous lps hv recovered from bleaching b4. amybe u wld like to monitor ur bubble placement, tank temp, lighting conditions, water para, etc.

I encountered this before with my bubbles when i first introduced them to my reeftank. they started expelling brown stuff for a few days and then stopped. I think the key thing to do is not further stress the coral. leave it alone in a suitable place assuming all water parameters are ok and they will recover by themselves in time. As always, stability is the key.
