turn white as in bleachin or rtn? wat abt other parameters of ur water condition like dkh, ph, no3, po4, mg......etc. Measurin juz the Ca level is nt enough to justify wats wrong with ur sps.

Light level r good? how good is good bro? Sps can still die on u even when place under 400W of MH with good Ca level but the rest of the parameters screw up, wrong placement of sps.....etc.

Perform a detail check on ur water parameters and in the meanwhile determine is tat bottom "turn white" sps bleachin or rtn. U can try usin lugols solution for treatment. After dippin it in lugol solution, if "whitenin" spread. Then advisable to discard ur sps. ;)

Like wat i mentioned.....juz those few test u did r nt enough to determine the cause. Perform all the tests and report back ur findin. A clear pix would help us in helpin u.

Above pix show a RTN section of a sps. Noticed the mucus like layer coverin the affected part. Provided with some flow over at tat area and u will be able to see the "mucus" gettin blown away leavin behd the white skeleton.

U will find no polyps extension over at tat area. This is a top down RTN tat u can frag off the affected top part and hopefully it recovers.....dippin the sps in Lugol solution r known to help in stoppin the RTN. Else, if it continue to spread.....its highly advisable u discard the colony away.

The case of a base up RTN sps is most likely a goner coz it very diffcult to frag off the base of a colony. Pple hav used super glue on the base and r known to help in stoppin the RTN frm spreadin up too....u hav to try it uself to knw.

Hopefully....in ur case of "white" at the bottom is a bleachin issue.

Read up more bro. ;)

I read somewhere and believe that if bottom portion of SPS has not enough flow, than become white slowly while upper part is just normal.

May be move to somewhere has more gentle flow ?
