Does MH specially for marine tank onli???? any other purpose of MH...

Does normal hardware shop sell them???? If MH is for many other purposes.... then many other shops sure got sell them.....mah

For the casing and ballasts you can use the commercial type. As for the bulbs..you might have to buy specific ones with suitable kelvins. Try to go for 6500K-20,000K..depending on the coral you are intending to keep and the color of the tank you are hoping to achieve.

Any famous and cheap shop to get MH .... the shop can also not be a marine shop rite?

eh. take note of MH bought not from marine shop.

DE (double end) MH some is not UV coated.

will burn your coral in the long run. (if

yr MH glass panel is not UV coated)

Not sure about that.

Have used non marine 150W MH for many years in past without problem. Should be ok as long as double ended has a cover glass. The units in question are proberbly used in shop displays(repaced bulb with 10,000k of course)

I thought UV rays do not pass through glass only IR (check out greenhouses)

Please correct me if i am wrong

Glass is not totally opaque to UV. Some amount will get absorbed or reflected but surprisingly large percentage gets through.

Just went to Hawaii marine and heard from the uncle... they are offering cheap MH 150W for $450 with everything..... the casing sort of big and rectangular shape should b worth it huh...

Oh yah.. if one bought a MH... is it a must that he must have a chiller too??? cos since the MH is soooo hot..... ac fan will not do rite???

up to 300 watts a big AC fan should suffice.

Having a chiller is much better, if not regular top up of water is a must
