Equipment for SPS tank

Yo! Planning for my 2.5 x 1.5 x 2 new tank set up

Planning to make it SPS suitable. So pls give me some advice on what type of equipment that will make a good home for sps. Thx!!!

1) Chiller-Any reco? Using 250w MH

2) Skimmer-Will a EVA 240 be enough for a school of anthias? Any other skimmers with the same size as EVA but better?

3) Will a calcium reactor be neccesary for a tank this size?

4) Acrlic or Glass- Seems acrylic has many good advantages. How come many people using glass?

1). chiller - depends on ur budget, at least 1/4 hp

2). how big is ur sch?

3). full fledge sps or half? calcium reactor is needed if dosing kalk cannot keep up with their needs...

4). this one i cannot ans u, depends more ur own preference, some say acrylic more scratch prone, some say acrylic very light and strong

Think for sps it will be better to have fewer and smaller fish coz your tank is small.

IMO, 5 anthias is too many.

try to go for 2.5x2x2. so much better than 2.5x1.5x2 .

Is this tank size enough for you.? any future upgrading? this will influence your equip spec..

For sps, 250w is a better choice. since you are looking into sps, 250w and chiller etc.. go for 3x2x2 tank size - running cost for 2.5 and 3ft tank.. no much different but 3footer will give you more room', water volume

note: u need knowledge, patience and $$ to throw into yr tank..esp for sps.

Cal-reactor also supply trace elements. (less human error too as we may over-dose it,lighten your work and $$). it is for long-term investment.

As for glass and acrylic, both has their pros' and cons'. however, i pick glass for my tank as acrylic -more scratch prone, acrylic>more costly for my tanksize and i am using 2x250+150w mh.

You are talking about ev-240?? it depends on your preference/budget/running cost/sump design etc.. preference> high flow-thru skimmer like ev-240/beckett or low flow-thru skimmer like needlewheel skimmer such as deltec, H&S etc..
