T-5 or T-6?

Using FL now.

Want to change light to T5 or T6. Heard that T5 is 54W , T6 is 40W & can fit into my FL casing without changing Ballest & End cap.

Any body can help me on this.

The ballast for FL is meant for the W provided right?

If the T6 is 40w which is higher than the what ballast can provide, can it really give out 40w of brightness?

t6 is only being tested in the states... i dont think it is in singapore yet..... from what i heard the price of t6 bublbs will be cheaper then t5 . and it is said to be more better than t5 in terms of it giving more 'light'

so far onli heard of 1 brand with t6...

quantum aquatics... n it's onli available in the US...

prob is, it claims to produce 30%-70% brighter than t8 at the same length n wattage... but they nv guarantee how sustainable is that extra brightness...

I've got myself T6. 2x 11K & 1x Actinic03. Two days back.

It's already in S'pore.

Selling it at Yish..934 & Jl K... They only got 3 & 4ft.

My corals are opening well.

Wonderful thing is that i don't have change ballest or end cap!!!

check out this link and compare the specs for T5 & t6, 24".....does not seems that T6 will be brighter then t5.....but definately brighter then t8.....

then again, T6 still relatively new, so technology might not be there yet...
