SRC Member Creetin Posted November 6, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 6, 2002 Hi everyone, kinda new in this hobby and looking out for reliable calcium test kits to purchase. Any brands to recommend, prices and where to get it? Heard they are quite ex! Also looking at buffers. I understand that Sea-chem has a few of them, but i not sure which one...i remember only the marine buffer (which keeps PH at 8.3).... but besides this, there were also other sea-chem buffers, so which one is good? I have a DKH test kit, i suppose i can test DKH still right, even if i use buffer (ie. no need to get a PH test kit) Thanks!!!! Quote Get Paid To Read Emails. SRC Member Norvin Ng Posted November 6, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 6, 2002 Take a look at these websites: [url=http://www.simplifiedreefkeeping.com/faq/faq.htm]http://www.simplifiedreefkeeping.com/faq/faq.htm[/uhttp://www.threestepstoareefaquarium.com/RL] Maybe others can provide better sites. I saw a site that was using only seacham products the other day. Will try to find it.
SRC Member Tanzy Posted November 6, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 6, 2002 Salifert is a good test kit brand. There's Seachem Reef Buffer with a purple label. If Calcium(400ppm +/-50) and Alkalinity(4 meq/L) are of the right levels, then pH will be around 8.3. Quote Warning: Heavy handed moderator in operation. You can get Salifert kits at SeaLife (balestier). $40+ one kit. They also have red sea test kits which might not be as good though cheaper. They don't stock Salifert Magnesium kits though.
