Calcium Test Kits and Sea-Chem buffer

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, kinda new in this hobby and looking out for reliable calcium test kits to purchase. Any brands to recommend, prices and where to get it? Heard they are quite ex!

Also looking at buffers. I understand that Sea-chem has a few of them, but i not sure which one...i remember only the marine buffer (which keeps PH at 8.3).... but besides this, there were also other sea-chem buffers, so which one is good?

I have a DKH test kit, i suppose i can test DKH still right, even if i use buffer (ie. no need to get a PH test kit)

Thanks!!!!

Salifert is a good test kit brand.

There's Seachem Reef Buffer with a purple label.

If Calcium(400ppm +/-50) and Alkalinity(4 meq/L) are of the right levels, then pH will be around 8.3.

hi how much is the sailfert test kit, and where can i get it?

sea-chem buffer..... do u have the specific name? purple label only?

You can get Salifert kits at SeaLife (balestier). $40+ one kit. They also have red sea test kits which might not be as good though cheaper. They don't stock Salifert Magnesium kits though.
