New computer problems!!

Bought this com from Sim Lim...

i am installing the OS myself... but when i started the PC with ORIGINAL WINDOWS XP CD in the cd drive...

the thing gets stuck after..

Verifying DMI Pool Data..... Done.

Boot From CD : _

instead of the usual...

Press Any Key to Boot from CD-ROM.

Any computer experts, pls advise?

Really? Hard to believe leh, hehehe :lol:

BTW, did you select your boot device to boot from CD rom? Can you detect your cdrom in the setup screen/ bios?

you try to download the startup diskette from Microsoft download site. But you will need to know the type you have. Mostly it should be Service pack 1a. the download program will create 6 diskettes as a boot to install your XP from CD later

go to http://www.bootdisk.com/ and download the software you need.

alternative using other PC to create a bootdisk. copy format.com to the A disk as well. (fdisk should be include when create bootdisk)

confirm your XP CD have is OEM and not upgrade.

advice have the Windows XP SP2 download and press to CD before hand. This will prevent mblast hit you before go further

ARGH!!! MADE THE COM WITHOUT FLOPPY DRIVE!!!!

damn fed up liaoz... going back to the com shop later today to create a din...

thanks for all the help...

problem solved... they fixed it for me... (they better... went to one of the more $$ shops, with supposingly better service...)

no manuel as CD-drive is oem.....
