if u dont have life rock, ur tank will look plain. anyways, life rock is good to stablise ur water condition. beside, the star fish can have a pit stop at there instead sticking at the glass always. moreover, ur clown will love it to play hit and hide. hehehe!!

u may get one or two or three small pieces of LRs for your fish to hide or for your shrimps to hide...

A skimmer is a must unless u are prepared to do water changing on alternate days...

Anyway, this hobby IS expensive. How can u also spare the buying of LRs..

If you are on budget (like me),u should try to in the least get a good filter,a good skimmer and good lights(if u are keeping corals)...

Moreover,in LRs there are critters which can become food for your starfish and clowns.

Let keep it simple. There are critters in the LRs,which are called pods. They can multiply(in a stable environment) and become food for your fish and inverterbrates...

Ah,11watts hang-on,those dymax type rite...Its ok only if u are keeping fish and non light requirment inverterbrates

Actually it's perfectly ok to keep 2 clownfishes in a simple tank w/o liverock or skimmer.. that was the setup for my first tank for the first 6 months. Water changes as normal, every 2-4 weeks, no problem at all. What i did was i added some de*nitrate (Seachem's ammonia/nitrite/nitrate-removing filter media) in my filter and ensure that the water is properly cycled before adding the clowns.
