MH for 3x3x1.5ft sps tank

Recommended Posts

i m in process in setting up a new sps dominant tank( sps on top, some LPS & shroom at the bottom), i intend to use a single MH...a 250W wif lumenarc or 400W wif spyder reflector. my question is whether the 250W wif lumenarc can cover 90% area for the tank size of 3ftx3ftxh1.5ft tank??

or if for single 250W MH wif lumenarc what is the tank size recommended (which can cover 90% area)?

& if for single 400W MH wif spyder reflector what is the tank size recommended (which can cover 90% area)? thanx lots. :thanks::thanks::bow::bow:

250w on a lumenarc would be good

IMO, a single 250watt might not cover the entire spectrum of you tank. 2x250 watt will be better or a single 400watt.

It depends on the lumenarc you want to use

A mini might cover your tank already or if you are not satisfied, go for the bigger ones

For 3x3 area and SPS better to go for LA3 (non-mini) with 400W but slight problem as the 400W MH might burn the softies and LPS since the height is only 1.5ft.

250W with LA3 mini might have sufficient coverage at the sides..

thanx bro for those precious opinions...

so conclusion is that 250W wif LA3 lumenarc shud cover the 3x3ft area rite?

i dun expect 100% cover ...i will satisfied wif 90% coverage.

any other opinion? :thanks:

Agreed on the LA3 with 250w for a 3ftx3ft. :)

now i m more confident to choose 250W MH. :P thanx anyone....

now again i only will hv a single MH to play around ..a 10kk, 14kk or 20kk bulb?

i seen hamilton 14kk 250W in action i kinda like those color. so it is good enuf for overall sps?? i heard that Pink, purple, red, and yellow sps like 10kk bulb & Blue and green sps like 14kk...so is it true? so any recommendation??:thanks:
