raynaz
Hi all seniors, Can anyone let me know what model is this as I have just bought it from another reefer (who also can remember the model). Need to size up the correct pump to it. If there's anyone out there using this model perhaps can share with me the recommended pump to work with it. SRC Member cowgum Posted October 19, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 19, 2005 This is the js100 model. venturi model. think a 1000 l/hr pump should do fine. You can check their website, but i forgot the site
SRC Member HypoC Posted October 19, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 19, 2005 HI bro, I'm using it. Like you I didn't know what model it is but had a brand new eheim 1260 fire it. Working very well! I think the bubbles are very fine with that pressure all the best!

I think the bubbles are very fine with that pressure all the best! Hi Bro, Great to hear that we are using the same kind. Actually I have bought Atman 306(2000L/hr) to fire it but it dun seems to produce much micro bubble thus not much foam was made and collected. In the end, I used another air pump(normal) to drive additional air to the air intake of the skimmer....with this, I can achieve some thick foam... at last. Btw what's the flow rate of eheim 1260? Do u hang it on to the sump or place it at the bottom of the sump - same level as the pump? Does that effect anything in terms of height when it comes to bubble forming? raynaz
http://www.aqua-macro.com/ bro refer to this website for more info. Thanks Bro, Don't seem to find any similar model though...perhaps EOL liao....old model. I am thinking something must gone wrong as not much micro bubbles are being formed when fire up with an atman 306 - 2000l/hr thus hoping to find out more on the recommended pump. Btw is it normal to increase the micro bubbles with the aid of an air pump driving thru the air intake of the skimmer?
SRC Member Alvin Tan Posted October 19, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 19, 2005 venturi skimmer dosent require height clearance....only needlewheel pumps need to be placed in a certain height in order to take in air to produce fine micro bubbles.... IMO....try the ehiem 1260 since there is a reefer using it.. my 2 cents.. SRC Member HypoC Posted October 19, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 19, 2005 bro raynaz, my setup is really kinda weird and i shant go into describing it but bottomline is the closer u place the pump to the inlet of the skimmer which is at the bottom, the more pressure it generates and the faster flow of water will give you better bubble production. Yup. Well actually you don't need such a gd pump like eheim 1260, can try rio hyperflow series too if you awnt to save some money. Does the job too just get high flow pump ok? Good luck! SRC Member HypoC Posted October 19, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 19, 2005 Oh and can try adding a wooden airstone to the air inlet tube. Will silence the venturi effect and possibly give you even finer bubbles
