Hi brothers,

another set of questions :D

what is the recommended water flow for a 4 ft tank?

Is at 2000h/l good enough? I am thinking of having 3 powerheads in the tank.

1 is always on, the other 2 is on alternate controlled by timer - to create different current flow at different time of the day :)

any comment? :lol:

I built a time to alternately turn on my two power heads in a 5 foot tank. It works well, but the big problem is the power head electric motors will 'chatter' when they turn on, meaning they are very noisy maybe for up to a second or so. There is no way to stop this noise. Dun know if it stresses the fish out but hearing the pumps chatter when they turn on in the middle of the night stressed me out!

I used an Omron timer, can get from many electrical parts suppliers, around S$50.

Real reefs don't have glass bottoms....(...think about it)

powerheads quite ineffcient in generating current....get at least a seio, but ideally Tunze....

one other thing that a lot of people miss out is Live rock...the more you have the more flow will be required.....keep the number of LR small or scape them strategically and you will be susprise at how much 'usable' flow there is .....;)

Tineng, remember my scaping?

I used 4-5 pieces of large rocks to scape and now with my return and single Tunze 6060, I feel that there is already too much flow.
