Calcium Reactor vs Kalkwasser

hey all you experts out there, please help me.....

Whats the basic advantages of a calcium reactor over dripping kalkwasser, other than ease (calcium reactor doesn't need to be topped up every other day, right?).

I have a 5 foot reef tank and i currently drip kalkwasser at night using a dosing pump. I mix the kalkwasser and it lasts about 3 days before i need to mix the next batch.

coz CR is to boost up & maintain CA, & kalk is to maintain CA & ph rite?

When using a CR, your pH level in your tank will be 0.2 lower than without using a CR. This is due to additional of CO2 from the CR effluent.

Both CR and Kalkwasser will add kH and Ca however they have some difference, CR have a trend to increase the kH while Kalkwasser tends to lower the kH in the long term.

THe lower pH can be solved by additional of kalkwasser.

So the kalkwasser will be KH buffering for sys with CR?

But then with boths running, wont they give too much increase in Ca?

If you tune your CR properly and not overdose on your kalkwasser then your Ca will not shoot up.
