hi there bro check out dell online. i just ordered a dell inspiron 6400. its got a duo core intel 1.66Ghz processor, 15.4 in screen, 512 DDR-2 SD ram, 80GB HD, DVD burner, etc, for just $1499.

you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. simple as that.

No offense, but hard fact of life. You want cheap, be prepared to get the crap that follows. Hardly in life you get good things that are cheap. Yin-Yang Balance if you will call it.

But seriously, Dell is not that bad as it is. Just the after sales service sucks. The parts they give are quite ok in my humble opinion. they just need more TLC and attention to maintain them.

But Dell after sales service has improved tremendously compared to 5 years ago (my first encounter with them).

Otherwise you can try Acer. IMHO, they are the other "cheaper" brand. Although their designs are not bad.

IMHO, both Dell and Acer are ok brands... they are considered

economical brands.

it all depends on the usage and how you maintain them.. do opt for

the extended warranty for any notebook purchase....

if wan cheap n relatively gd specs, go for acer but provided if u can hav 3 years warranty (btw, i tink they hav limited warranty, if take it overseas tink 1 year become 3 months)

dell is well known for not-so-gd after sales service... my friend's true experience

yes yes yes .... warranty is important.

Better to get a comp with at least min 512 memo ram & 64mb video card (higher even better)
