Gold is a metal so is a good heat conductor; gold is "very" inert so it is highly unlikely to react with the saltwater to for gold oxide.

Heh.

Give me a shot, i though Iceprobe used gold as cooling probe...

Is Stainless steel good for as cooling probe?

If you are rich, you can try getting some gold bars as your probe. Heh.
