since u did had a success in your old tank,

I'm sure u got no problem setting up this tank.

Anyway Calcium reactor is necessesary to replenish

calcium/magnesium/kh that hv been taken up by

coral. Nevertheless u still have to test the water

weekly to ensure CA its at optimal level 400 - 420.

w/o CR, u can dose ca/mg/kh, and still achieve the

optimal level. But its a bit tedious as u need to test

water very frequent to ascertain the consumption rate

and how much to dose, if u got time to do all this...... ;)

whether u keep LPS or SPS, u still have to maintain Calcium

at this level. But SPS consumed more, so a small bottle of Calcium,

with tank of your size, full pledge SPS, will only last a few days. :D

oh ya

let the beckett suck everything means no need to use wool, the beckett should do that job of ###### out dirt

as for coral chips, get rid of them! in the long run thy will trap dirt which will decay giving u a headache with no3. the liverocks and sandbed should have enough bacteria. the coral chips would be insignificant

cheers

Dear Shoelevy,

so nice to hear from u. U can be my mirror becasue we got the same tank size.

I will check all recommend stuffs out as all friend said.

Yeah! thanks a ton

for pumps, i recommend petmart, seriously the best price u can find

for fr, i recommend the skimz range from aquamarin

for chiller i also recommend cl650 from aquamarin

for skimmer, i recommend the beckett bullet range characterised by the big reaction box. i think aquamarin also carries this

for lights, this one no particular recommendation, there's the cheap but problematic one, there's the good but see-price-u-scared one

but i would go with DE lights...used for 2yrs no problem

for Cr, no recommendation as i still tuning mine :D

for lifestocks i recommend easier ones from shops...tougher ones get from fellow reefers better...more stable and trustworthy

btw, plan your fishes properly, becos if u end up not liking them, u will haf super hard time trying to catch them out later...so plan wisely..for me, i just dun buy fishes anymore, except the really pretty, peaceful or neccessary ones

Hehe yeah it's so so true... many reefers out there keep their set up barely simple and yet got good results... just need to do more water change in the long run. Me being a "tech" person always go for technology and equipments... but deep down, nothing beats weekly water change :)

that is true. and water change is the most tedious part for ppl wif big tanks. <_<:(

Do u think my exist skimmer work?

becasue it skimed a half of cup every 3 days.

I want to change as u reccommed but if it's still o.k., i want to use my money for other equipment instead.

Your low end protein skimmer is doing a wondrous job!!!

Either your tank is damn dirty or your skimmer is damn efficient... or both :(

With this kinda skimmate, I don't think you need to worry about it for now... yes focus on other stuff :)

Sis perhaps you wanna do a review on this product under the Product Review section... this will be great help for those new reefers with tight budget... I'm sure they can find it here in Sg... I think I saw some Jebo products at AM :)
