hmm..............

another case of RTN, I believe.....

Recessing tissue.....

well, it happened to me in the past, but not anymore.

Do you dose your tank with calcium or anything else??

it could be because of no calcium.

I have a hammer in my tank and it had since split into 2 branches already. B)

Just break off the rotting head. There is no know medication that will stop it that I know off.

You have to do it fast as it can spread. Best if you can isolate it in another tank. Check your water parameter, as the dying head usually pollute and causes other problems.

Good luck.

RTN = Rapid Tissue Necrosis = Brown Jelly Disease

Wiped out my pink plate anemone in a matter of hours. Similar thing happened to my elegance. Tried breaking the affected area but still couldn't save it. Never used Seachem Reef Dip though. Perhaps you should try it and let everyone know if it works.

Good luck.

RTN is not Brown jelly disease. RTN is really Rapid as the name suggest and are almost totally restricted to acropora and some SPS. It takes only a matter of few hours before the flesh on the whole branch or colony disintegrates. The diseased coral has no rotting odour and smells fresh whereas brown jelly disease should smell quite bad.

Sigh, my newly acquired torch coral just got the brown jelly...one of the heads died within one day...and it DOES smell!!! Btw, any chances that the dead head will grow back? It seems to be gone for good; nothing inside cept white coral bone..."SNIFF SNIFF" :(
