SRC Member iantoh Posted September 1, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted September 1, 2006 hi there bro boxfish, coralline algae and calcifying corals readily consume alkalinity in captive systems, so its somewhat to be expected that your dkh levels will fall over time. you might need to dose more frequently to maintain optimum levels. reef builder is good alk supplement, but you might like to consider single part liquid addiitives like the seachem or Aquaz part A part b type supplements and just use buy and use the alk bottle to raise your alkalinity. (dont forget baout ca over time too ya; if your alk is being consumed, then your ca is also most definitely being consumed as they are consumed in tandem in the process of calcification) baking soda is a good and super cheap way to raise alk, but please use only a small portion and slowly adjust up. a quarter of a teaspoon mixed with a small cup of water and dripped into your tank will raise alk discernably. cheers, ian Quote My Goniopora Nano!
