mansiz
Hi bros/sis, may I know how long does your chiller rest between operating period? Meaning how long does your chiller rest before it's back to work again?
SRC Member xersion Posted October 22, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 22, 2006 i believe this depends on what chiller u are using and whats your tank size.. for me my tank is 4*2*2 with cl650 will run for around 20mins before resting for 2hrs plus
SRC Member ming69 Posted October 22, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 22, 2006 Sorry to piggy-back on your thread. I'd like to know if I can switch off the chiller when the tank temp is cool enough. I set it to 28c but thermometer in the tank shows 26.6c. I just install the chiller today. It's a Resun 450 & my tank is 2ft. Quote Member of:
SRC Member xersion Posted October 23, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 23, 2006 from what i know there can't be 2 different reading on the temp.. 1 of the reading must be wrong.. anyway if u off the chiller when the temp is at 28c, how are u going to maintain the temp or when are u going to on the chiller again? jamomatt
You can always hook it up to a temperature controller.
mansiz
You do not have to switch it off. If the real temp is 26.6 DegreeC, then just let it be 26.6 DegreeC, it won't do any harm. Not to worry too much, because the temp won't further decrease. My thermometer also shown 26++ while my chiller is 27 DegreeC. Btw can help me to see whether how long your chiller is resting? I really need to do this survey as my chiller seems to work rather frequent. Bro ming69, what powerhead are you using for pumping water into your chiller? I'm wondering if mine is too low. SRC Member bslong Posted October 23, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 23, 2006 let's do a survey, my 2ft tank, CL280, kick in about 13-15mins, then rest about 30mins.
SRC Member ming69 Posted October 23, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 23, 2006 Resun 450, 2ft tank with IOS. Pump 1800L. I'm not sure how often the chiller kicks in. Didn't hear it very often. My guess is that either the water is cool enough so it doesn't have to do much coolling, or can't hear it b'cos of noisy kids around the house. SRC Member Reefbum Posted October 24, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 24, 2006 Generally I think if your chiller and pump is right for your tank size, the operating time will be 20-30 mins in 2 hrs interval. If yours kicks in too early and operate longer than that, think you should get a bigger pump and chiller.
