Hi guys!

After a lot of planning I have drawn up a list of the equipment that I will purchase for my 5 footer, 135 g tank. I prepared some drawings of the sump and was hoping that as I am a first timer you might be able to tell me what in you think about it.. Which bits don´t work, what would you change and how would you change it..

Hi there alex,

thanks for sharing your tank plans! they look fantastic, and pretty grand too- its great youre thinking the whole thing through before embarking on a system.

one concern though, relating to your in-sump baffles. i guess the drawings above aren't to scale, but do make sure your baffles have enough space and allowance between each other to faciliate the high flow levels youre planning to pass through them.

min 1" best 2" between baffles if the flow rate is high

if possible built the sump bigger so that it can hold the back flow when return pump is off

The water level is relatively low so I think that there will be enough capacity to handle the back flow...

If I build it any bigger I will lose space for any further additions...

I'm using a similar Red Dragon 6,5 as return for my 4 x 2 x 2 display tank... not sufficient IMO. Why not utilize another piece for 2 return pumps? It's dangerous to run a single return pump anyway

Jervis - Maybe that instead of returning the flow from the UV to the sump (it is coming from the sump) I could return it straight to the display tank..

I have been talked into swapping my deltec kalkstirrer, caclium reactors and UV sterilizer for aquamedic ones which will come with the first shipment..

Do you think the aquamedic stuff is on par with deltec equipment?

Both are good and established brand.

IMO, i would grade Deltec products as more superior.. You will not regret using this brand for their superior performance and ease of use..

Bro... both Aquamedic and Deltec are established brands... shouldn't go wrong with any of them... but they do have their own strengths in respective segments... do a bit more research before you are being "talked into"... that's why I hate buying things in BEST... I wan Philips shaver they try to sell me Braun... I wan Sony TV they try to sell me Samsung

Have you heard of the Aqua Medic AT controller??? How does is compare to the aquatronica???

Also I'm ordering the geisemann infinity.. Do you think getting the moonlight unit would make a huge difference????
