"2 x 55w PL" or "ATI Twin-fix Retrofit-2x 24w" which one is better? if "T5 is better, i wonder y? cos "T5" watts is lower y is it better?

it can penetrate deeper if im not wrong.. it has higher errmmm lumen i think.. not really sure about lights..

Spiderman! That's a question that have caught me 2!!

Based on your scenario & the general advice given (higher wattage, higher penetration), I somewhat think that PL stands better. Can anyone enlighten both of us at the same time?

But the comparison's wattage is not equal. So can we say that 55W PL is not as good as 24W T5? It seems that we have omited the temperature of the lights in this instance.

In this case, i believe the PL are better.But the advantage of T5 is such that you can cramp more into a limited space due to their slim size.Also, i believe there are 2 versions of T5, NO and HO.

Given the same kelvin (10k) & length (in this case a 2 footer) for both types of lamps, I reasoned that only 4x24 watts of T5 can match 2x55 watts of PL. I believe there must be a reason why the hobbist choose to use more tubes of T5 than PL. I am still reading up but have yet to find out the reason why ...

if the watts is the same for the both, of cos T5 is better. 2 x 55watts cost me only less than $70 but one 2 x 24 watts is already cost more than $200!!!

Do the 55W PL come in 10K in temperature? So far the PLs I see do not really state the temp. Perhaps the difference lies in that, rather than the wattage.

They do. If only there are T5 tubes that comes in higher wattage for a 2 footer .. I will definitely go for that.

Great links that you found! However, I still can't find any link that actually explained how T5 is better than PL. I am read thru the links again in the afternoon to make sure I dun miss out anything. Thxs again!
