Does High phosphate kill off corals?

Hi bros, I'm still very new to this so I'll appreciate some help here. I started off my tank by using tap water :( so I guess the phosphate levels are way high. Is there any method (apart from saltwater change) that I can use to reduce those levels fast? A guy told me I'lll need many bottles of rowa, so ex! Lastly, does this mean I can't have corals until I reduce phosphate levels?
