Usually the reefs around Malaysia got not much crown of thorns starfish but is in the Great Barrier Reef that the problem is huge.Anyway keep the coral pics coming!!!!It really awes me when there are loads of LPS corals.

Actually we took out hundreds off the reefs in Redang. I was told that the situation is much worse in Tioman where huge sections of reef has been wiped out by Crown of Thorns Starfishes.

Yeah Tioman i went i went there bearly all the corals are dead.But then since the corals have finished,the starfishes is also not in sight now so the reefs are healing slowly.Show us the bagful of starfishes you got!!!!

I cant believe it.......I looked at my camera memory and I could not find one single pic of the crown of Thorns!! I forgot to take a pic :paiseh:

We took them back to the beach and they dug a big hole in the sand and the crown of Thorns were buried in the sand. I found a few broken red tips in my wetsuit at my thigh but luckily none pierced my skin. I was carrying the Crown of Thorns in a bag and must have brushed my thigh.

The thorns are poisonous and can cause a nasty rash on the skin.
