the problem went away on its own. its not precipitation of Ca. its greyish. why u bump up such an old thread lol..

hehe...my tank becomes cloudy recently and then found your thread...

mine kh is as high as 5meq/l or 13, ph is around 8.18, po4 0ppm, Ca&Mg will test tmr

I think i boost (blindly) kh too high recently...

IMHO, dust particles accumulating at the water surface can be remedied with a powerhead blowing on the water surface towards the overflow box. These protein scums will be remove by your filtration.

initial start up could be due to bateria boom as well =)

2x1.5x1.5 tank

Lighting: AI hydra 52HD

Skimmer: Deltec SC 1455

Reactor: Minimax; rowaphos

Skimz  ; NP biopellets

Wave Maker: MP 40 WQD

Return pump: Eheim 1262

Chiller: Arctica 1/10 hp

Agree with this method, very effective.

Once, i shut down my OR6500 return pump becos of loud noise. Within a day, dust-like particles start to accul at the tank water surface. Added a SEIO and it only partially remove the problem.
