Is that a hard coral?

Looks like Porites or Montipora.

Probably a Montipora but not Acropora. Porites are rarely this dark purple.

They should be treated like SPS? Last time I saw there were two more in reef world.. I am really new in this.. Hope that I didn't make the wrong move in getting this.. But from what I saw in this forum, SPS rarely come by nowadays.. That's why I took one when I saw them..

Shouldn't just grab what you can get but rather what you know you can keep.

Know what the requirements are before purchase. It should be given all the conditions of SPS but if it is a Montipora, it will do OK with less light than Acropora but will still need MH at least.

I would love to tell you ok, but I don't think it will make the lighting requirement no matter how close you place the coral to the lamp. Best is to return it for money or it will surely die. Montipora has been known to grow under PL/PC lamps in excess of 200W though, but that is brighter than some MH.

Same. Any thingie that holds a MH bulb in a reasonable casing is referred to as a pendant. A commercial pendant with ballast that looks cool and neat while holding the bulb is called a luminaire.
