actually good to remove them bro. They hang the light quite low, jacky's solution is the best.

+1 on hanging the lights. Then can lower and raise as needed.

easier to acclimatize livestock to LEDs especially when you can raise them.

MaxSpect now has the hanging kit. should go for it.

just make sure your wall bracket length is correct.

I can't hang the light. :( Dun think my company will allow me drilling holes onto their ceiling...My tank is reinforced with side braces. I'm thinking probably can put there. If I do so, distance between light n water surface will be ard 2-3cm only. Will it be too close? My tank height is 1.5ft too.

Btw, besides Iwarna & DELighting, anywhere else sell this light?

1) maybe placed a piece of acrylic (about 8m) on top of the tank and place the light on top of it.

You acrylic should have a catch at the edge so that it will not drop into the tank

2) Check Digibee's thread and make something like his light stand.

3) If it is too bright, you can lay a piece of plastic to diffuse the ligh a little.

** check with Peacemaker how he does it.

4) MarineLife also sells it.

May I know why put that acrylic? to prevent water splash onto light set?

Trying to find his thread...is it in this section too?

hi bros..

thinking of getting LED-G1-400-110W for my 2ft cube..

but i was looking at the design if i clip it at the back of my tank,

the light only reaches out to 180mm given that the diamension is 400*180*45mm

so can i say that the front portion of my tank will have lesser light then?

The clip that came with maxspect is a design flaw.

Not useful at all.

You need to customise a stand for the light to suit your needs.

(-_-) Happy will do ... (o_o)

if i remember right, the clip will only push of the light about 50mm from where it is clipped.

with how your tank height is, should be ok i think, but more of the issue is how low the clip hangs the light. if you don't hang it ala jackie or digibee, it would make your access to your tank quite limited, and potential splashing of SW on top (fans) and sides ... just my 2 cents.

Well I would not say it is a flaw.... It is just their style aka ELOS way.

ML ELOS demo tank has a MaxSpect clipped side by side with a ELOS LED.

both look as cool.

The disadvantage is:

1) hindrance during maintenance

2) unadjustable height.

3) might not be able to clip if you have lots of HOB eqpt.

advantage:

1) no need to drill wall/ mount bracket

2) looks neat, no dangling wires

Really depends on individual tank.

can Maxspect 180watts fixture cover my 3 feet end to end .... if I use the hanging kit , placing it slightly higher for better coverage .

Since it's equal to 400watts MH output , it should still cover the depth ( 2ft ) ??

By the way, mentioned it uses 30watts LED.... won't this give off more heat ?

- currently I'm using 2x 150watts + 2x t5 ( 3ft )

i dun think can cover end to end unless you use iwarna's customise hanging kit to place the fixture higher and combine with yr 2 x T5s.

heat is much lower compared to your current lightings.

thanks for replying .

OT abit .... anyone used Lumen Aqua ( Ultra Brite ) distributed by Henry .

Like the new light control systems with 5 preset timer, and lighting intensity brightness control ( 0 - 100% for both white and blue ) ...... but hindside ... double the price of Maxspect ( but more features )

Note : I have not linked with any product distributors

i felt their previous LED range was a disappointment plus the prices...but this newer range should be an improvement.

Aquaray HD1000 is another alternative using 3watt cree LED combine with HD500 will be a stunner! :eyebrow: .

But price wise, is high.

then you need to ask yourself if it is worth to pay double the price for those features.

you can practically get 2 set of MaxSpect lights for 1 set of LA.

changing intensity is fun but once the novelty wears off, hmmmmm how often would you be using that feature?

The timer on MaxSpect is sufficient for its purpose. Having more gives you better flexibility of course.

My MH is not even on a timer, just switch on and off manually :)
