hardcore => 6 months

normal => 12 months

where in the east to get the philips 11W tube ?

Hardcore are those who run the UV units 12-24 hrs per day. Actually, UV units are supposed to be run all the time so that they will be at their max effectiveness. However, to conserve the life of the UV bulb, most reefers would run the unit for ard 6 hours daily.

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

Thought hardcore is kiasu and normal is Bo chap, lol. Personal opinion, it helps in preventive and short curing period but thing happens, don't expect miracle.

both of which on 24/7.

hardcore is like what solo77 suggestted. kiasu then change for 6 months. i know alot of the people in the states do that.

normal is people is like people like me, change every about a year.

is uv helpful in your persaonal experience

UV ==> very very useful if you are keeping fish and when your tank is rather new and not mature yet.

+

ozone ==> very very useful as well.

im using both thru out the day, unless i doze bac or vitc, then i off it for a while. my water is always crystal clear from these 2.

but some people only for a while each day for other reasons.

and depending on your system, bacteria driven system like zeovit etc dun use uv/ozone.

my purpose of using these 2 is do keep pathogen or bad bacteria in the water column at bay.
