Digiman
this anthias is an undescribed species, resembling pseudanthias marcia. i bought it when i was in HK. Pseudanthias sp. Came in so far only from maldives. Came in two or three times at CF, an thereafter never seen again. Tat makes it now a rare anthias as well! Senior Reefer yikai Posted November 12, 2011 Author Senior Reefer Share Posted November 12, 2011 Getting burn by MH. yes the colour is not as intense anymore. angels and certain other fishes will darken under bright metal halides. here's a comparison pic of when i first got it. despite the loss in orange, do you also notice something else? the blue edge on the dorsal and ana| fin has reduced greatly! the fish has transformed into a female due to the pressure of my male flame angel and has thus, lost almost all the blue edging. females tend to have less and much reduced blue edges. Digiman
Chaetodon fremblii. it took awhile for it to get used to the tank and adopt a nice yellow colouration. even though it was feeding from the start and everything, it adopted the typical blotchy fright coloration for many months. now it's a beautiful yellow all the time. Frembli imo is the most unique butterfly worthy of a single complex of its own. Not v rare but one of the most beautiful. Good job at keeping it so healthy and stress free. jetski250
here's a couple more photos of the flame angel pair. they are really camera whores and they're such pretty subjects to practice on. unfortunately getting clear shots of both in one frame is pretty hard. they keep moving. a good thing they're really in the mood for spawning today, that's the only chance i have of them ever swimming together. i managed a couple of shots of the male + the hybrid flame angel in spawning position but they're too blur to post. a waste! i have a soft spot for flame angels. ask digiman and terryz, they can testify. i never get sick of them and every hawaii shipment i'll be like a kid in a candy store. hundreds of flame angels and i'll examine every, single, one. without fail. i picked out this pair on purpose for the difference in stripes. the male has many stripes while the female, has only a few. That's one of the best looking male I have ever seen! Senior Reefer yikai Posted November 14, 2011 Author Senior Reefer Share Posted November 14, 2011 That's one of the best looking male I have ever seen! really? you must not have seen many flame angels before then! haha just kidding. this is just a regular male flame angel. many of them are like that actually. of course the male-ness will be enhanced if you keep it in a pair. and in this case, it's spawning with 3 different female fishes. so it's bound to get pretty studly. but this aint the best i've seen. not even close. i've seen some with very nice "filaments" like a little queen angel!
