SRC Member MbmC Posted May 10, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted May 10, 2010 Does this reduce chiller efficiency? For example. Arctica 1/3 DBE-250 is rated 480 - 2400 GPH. What happens if I run an Eheim 1250 connected to it, which is rated at 320 GPH?
SRC Member LaW Posted May 10, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted May 10, 2010 yes, i believe it shouls lower ur chiller efficiency. thus takes longer time to chill to meet your desired temperature. Quote If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless. Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. || Tank: 78" x 30" x 30" || Sump: 48" x 22" x 20" || Lights: PowerModule 10 X 80W|| Returns: 2 x HF32 || || Skimmer: BubbleKing Supermarin 300 || Wavemaker: 3 x 6100 & 1 x 6200, 2 x Wavebox 6212, WavySea || || FR: 2 x FR150 || NR: Sulphur Denitrator || CR: RM Custom Made 8" || KR: Deltec KM500 || TopUp: Tunze Osmolator 3155 || || UV: Coralife 12X 36W || Ozonizer: Sanders C200|| Controller: GHL Profilux Plus II Ex ||
SRC Member comycus Posted May 11, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted May 11, 2010 The theory is that with lower flowrate, less water is passed through and chilled within the same amount of time. Quote My old 3ft
CFOh
Does this reduce chiller efficiency? For example. Arctica 1/3 DBE-250 is rated 480 - 2400 GPH. What happens if I run an Eheim 1250 connected to it, which is rated at 320 GPH? I am using 1/4 HP (Model DBE-200) with Eheim 1250 for my 3ft tank.. So far look ok... except need to clean the pump every 3 to 4 month.. cause I am using the eheim filter at pump inlet.. I found the chiller efficiency drop via debris build up trapping in filter wool... my temperature set to 26C... otherwise so be safe... In other words depend to our tank sizes and heat induce in our tank also critical... try to calculate using chiller calculator supply by JBJ... Add more buffer to your input so that we will not under estimate the chiller output.. http://chiller.jbjlighting.com/prod_chiller_size.asp for eg., Cheers..
