Quiet & Low Power Consumption Pumps?

Recommended Posts

Hello

Anyone used ehiem and aquabee pumps before? which is quieter? i'm looking for a pump

- to feed my Skimmer (Deltec AFP 600) and my FR (Skimz FM100) together, looking at maybe 2000L/H

- return pump 2x2x2ft tank, est 260 litres of water, looking at +- 3500L/H

Please feel free to comment... or even recommend different brands... ;)

Thanks!

It would be better to have different pumps for skimmer and FR as they may require different flow rates.

The preferred brand of course is Eheim. For me I really can't find any fault with Aquabee as well. Tt's why I chose it over Eheim.

Noise should not be an issue if you are considering these 2 brands.

If you are looking at power consumption, Aquabee trumps Eheim. Another strong, silent and low power consumption brand to consider is Rio.

My 24G nano tank (Decommed)

And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

aquabee alot of users said it loses head power compare to eheim

rio to go if budget but want to have a good pump

been using aquabee 3000 the difference is alot compared to resun pump for a 4 feet tank

eheim 1262 i used for my 5 feet tank ,pumping from bottom tank to display tank with alot of bend and putting it external also gives a good flow to pump water in.

all the 3 above pump is good

dont buy resun, HOT and waste electricity + less flow

by the way, anyone knows where to get the cheapest aquabee pump in sg?

lol I think that's subjective. Your favourite LFS will prob be able to give you a good discount off their listed price.

If you dno't mind second hand, pasar malam always have sellers.

I am currently using both the AB2000 and 2000/I. I can tell you that the head loss from 2000 is alot greater than the 2000/I. Guesstimation is I'm prob getting ~1500L/hr out from my 2000.

Different flowrate for FR and Skimmer?

i'm using 1000l/h for my skimmer and 800l/h for my FR... if i were to get the 2000l/h and use a split, it would be jusssssst nice... correct me if i'm wrong... :)

You will need to factor in some loss in flow after the split. Can always get a higher rated pump and install valves to control the flow.

My favourite is Ehiem (trust worthy) but the others seem to be more competitive in terms of watt used, esp Rio.

A few good pumps to compare (at 0 head loss):

Ehiem 1262 - 3400 l/h - 80w

Ehiem 1264 - 4500 l/h - 100w

AB 3000 - 3000 l/h - 45w

AB 5000 - 5000 l/h - 75w

Rio HF12 - 3000 l/h - 35w

Rio HF14 - 3500 l/h - 40w

Rio HF17 - 4500 l/h - 45w

Rio HF20 - 5400 l/h - 50w

Agreed. I changed all my RIO returns to Eheim after one of my RIO failed. I have never heard of eheim pumps failing, even after 10-20 years. :eyebrow: It might cost more to run an eheim pump but I value my fish more than electricity bills.

Always something more important than fish.

Yes. And this is wat a true reefer should be concerning about.

But 1 thing for ehiem pump is they dun carry such a wide range of pump like the other brands.

In another words their highest flowrate is the 1264 model (4500LPH) and if that's not enough for the bro here then I think gonna try other brand liao.

Hope in future they'll come out more model.

Like the Honda, dunno when they will come out with a turbocharge machine???

i've found another alternative...

Aquabee 500L/H for the FR which takes 5 Watts

Aquabee 1000L/H for the Skimmer which takes 10 Watts

a total of 15 Watts as compared to my current:

Dymax 800L/H for FR which takes 18 Watts

Ehiem compact 1000L/H which takes 23 Watts

its a saving of 26 Watts... which means lesser heat and lesser energy consumption, thus chiller works more efficiently and in turn takes lesser time to reach its desired temperature, WHICH also means saving of energy!

At the end of the day, its only 26 watts... hahaha!
