Came across these creatures in LFS. Really tempted to buy but need to do some research first.

Anyone has experience with these creatures ? What does it feed on ? Water condition ? Reef safe ? Fish safe ?

Whatever comments is highly appreciated.

I heard these nudibranches only eat sponge? Quite difficult! Once got a spanish dancer. My wife loves it but it disturbs the coral and my cowfish started biting it. In the end, died.

I agree with Chris.

Nudibranches have specilized feeding habits, with each specie feeding on different things. Some on sponges, some on sea fans, Etc.

They should not be collected in the first place or be bought by hobbiests as they will just starve to death in a home tank.

Just to add that many nudibranchs (did you know that the proper pronunciation is Noo-dee-brunk?) are poisonous as a result of them ingesting some poisonous sponges, coral polyps etc?

You see those spikes on their back? Some of the ingested 'stinging coral harpoons' are recycled and moved to their backs as a form of protection. So any fish that takes a bite from them will get a mouth full of poison! Some produce copious amounts of slime when handled (sea lettuce).

If you get a sea lettuce slug or a nudibranch like that seen in my video... they are primarily algae eaters... could be good. Some are known to eat flatworms (sp. berghia).

But in general... avoid nudibranchs.

AT- which video? i didn't see!

since feeding phyto & rotifiers i have a bloom of sorts & discovered among other creepy crawlies some nudis-light brown/spiky eating algae on my front/side & back glass. The biggest only abt 4mm so i can't focus cam on it yet(mine's a mavica so i'm still in the stone age of digicam). i have a range of 2mm-4mm abt 4pcs so far. could be Berghia Verrucicornis but can't tell till they get bigger(the spike look the same but colour different), although seems no harm as they eat only algae for now.

found some eggs laid in a crescent shape, could be from them or could be from some other weird snails i'm beginning to see. Have to be careful when cleaning glass nowadays.
