vurbul
Hello, I'm new too. Yes between 2 zoa polpys they are connected via their 'mat' which is a layer of thin 'skin' coating the rocks.
fishiee
no. each zoa 'head' is an individual animal. however, all the zoas on the same rock are connected by a mat of tissue (which is still living). this is cos zoas reproduce primarily by budding; a baby zoa buds off from an adult zoa and grows, leaving the tissue mat. this mat can be cut to seperate the zoa colony if need be, but the new zoa colonies would need very good water conditions to recover and regenerate in after fragging. vurbul
Oh, so they really individual animals? Like brothers ah? So what about blasto? Or duncans? If I feed one head, will the other head get a share of the food?
SRC Member raydiative Posted July 16, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted July 16, 2010 Oh, so they really individual animals? Like brothers ah? So what about blasto? Or duncans? If I feed one head, will the other head get a share of the food? i may be wrong.. but from what i know each individual head = individual coral.. (the only one i know that doesnt apply is gonio) somtimes 1 head may have 2 mouth but it is still considered 1 individual animal (which may slowly split into 2 or more) so to ans ur quest... blasto and ducans are the same.. 1 head = 1 individual... you should be feeding both heads.. hope you understand what i mean and hope this helps!
