Hihi

PH : 8.2

Salinity : 1.023

Alkalinity : 8.6dKH

Magnesium : 1080ppm (low)

Calcium : 350ppm (satisfactory)

Calling on all reef experts for comments as to why my polyps aren't opening? Any advise?

Many thanks

can we know which polyps are you referring to?

If you are referring to zoas, did you buy the zoas when it's opening nicely at the shop and when you bring back it's not open for 2-3 days? zoas are quite hardy and your specs is enough to make it open... also check whether there is any "white dots" on the polyps itself / any insect alike on the polyps..

Photo will be best

Onizuka@ Thanks very much for your swift response.

Those not opening are: colony polyps, yellow zoas and now my bubble tip anemone are not opening as well. Will take photo tmr and post it here as I hv switched off the lightings and the corals are prolly in sleeping mode now.

CFOh@ thanks will check for nudis.

Thanks all

Mark

I hv 2 blue tangs, 1 scopas tang, 5 anthias, 3 dartfishes, 5 spotted cardinals, 2 cleaner shrimps, 2 boxer shrimps and that's about it and I think they are reef safe and I have not seen any of them nibbling at the corals/polyps.

I did about 10% water change 3 days back but I don't think that was the cause. Still trouble-shooting, hiazzzzzzz

Bro wat water do u use for ur top up? If using tap water will cause PO4, better to use DI water. If PO4 is high, do weekly water change and can also try goodbye PO4 from Henry. Another important thing to check is ur NO3.

Hi, Bro,I suggested Dip all your infected Zoas with Coral-RX. And get few yellow wrasses to control them for the moment..

Try dip your rock of zoa in tapwater for 10 mins, could be some pest or nudi irratating your zoa, they will open by about 2 to 3 days.I dip mine and most recover after 3 days,gd luck.

I don't think it's advisable to add medication into your main tank to treat corals or fishes. Unless really really no choice due to some special circumstances. Best is to put in that extra effort to isolate them for treatment.

I use raw tapwater straight from tap, never leave them overnight to dip my zoa, lol. Zoa will be fine after tapwater dip,i,ve seen zoa grow in very polluted area with oil, lol!
